Saint Luke's and UMKC Cardiology Fellowship Ranked Top 10 in the U.S.
The University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine’s Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship in partnership with Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute has been named one of the 10 best cardiology training programs in the United States based on national In-Training Examination performance.
In-Training Examination, offered through the American College of Cardiology, is designed to provide an objective assessment of medical knowledge and shows fellows and program directors how their performance compares to competitors on a national scale.
The UMKC/MAHI fellowship program tied for 9th place in average exam scores out of 222 cardiology programs in the nation. This high performance not only indicates high-quality fellows, but also outstanding teaching provided by the faculty.
“We recognize that our cardiology fellows work very hard, day and night, as invaluable members of our patient care teams. These results illustrate how talented they are academically,” said Jonathan Enriquez, MD, cardiologist at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute and Program Director of the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship with UMKC School of Medicine. “We are fortunate to work at a nation-leading institution, where we not only work to help others get better, but also work to make ourselves better each day. The work is often difficult, but our greatest successes are usually a product of great teamwork.”
Fellows at UMKC/Saint Luke’s are mentored by national and international leaders in their field at leading-edge facilities. Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute stands alongside only Harvard, Yale, and Duke as one of the few designated data analytic centers for the American College of Cardiology’s National Cardiovascular Data Registry. With the top-notch clinical and research training, fellows are prepared to excel in any hospital setting or subspecialty after graduation.
