Doctors Throw Surprise Party for Patient's Miraculous Recovery
Sophie was watching a Royals game when a pounding headache crippled her. She came to Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City and found the migraine was actually a brain bleed from an arteriovenous malformation, an entanglement of blood vessels. She required immediate and emergent life support along with neurosurgery by Dr. Breshears and Dr. Grobelny. She ultimately spent 22 days in the Neuro ICU before discharge.
She is a shining example of perseverance, love for life, and optimism. Sophie continues to ‘wow’ everyone with her remarkable recovery. To celebrate her success, her entire Saint Luke’s care team surprised her when she and her parents came for a visit to show her remarkable recovery to date.
